Information You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Hillsborough Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches. If you send a message, we use the information in it only to respond or address the request.
Data We Gather Automatically
Hosting services may create standard logs, including IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate for maintenance and usage trends. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, when used, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use limited data to operate the service, resolve technical issues, measure aggregate traffic, and improve content. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services and Links
Links may lead to county or state record portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The destination service controls information submitted there under its own policy. Sponsored search results are also supplied by a third party.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and support vendors process the necessary server logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when a valid legal requirement applies.
How We Protect Your Data
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Since the site has no visitor accounts, it does not maintain a visitor password or profile.
Users Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent information, and we will remove it.
Your New Jersey Privacy Choices
The New Jersey Data Privacy Act, P.L. 2023, c.266, codified at N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.4 et seq., provides covered consumers rights related to access, correction, deletion, portability, and certain opt-outs. Because this reference keeps very little visitor information, a request generally involves the contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to make one. Public records held by a Hillsborough, Somerset County, or New Jersey custodian are outside our control and must be addressed to that custodian.
